Cultured marble/stone and solid surface molding incorporate a blend of polyester, vinyl ester, or acrylic resins, a variety of inorganic fillers, color pigments and other additives, to produce a non‐porous, uniform material. Cultured marble/stone applications generally incorporate a gel coated surface that can simulate natural veining or other natural stone characteristics. Solid surface molding incorporates a variety of color chips, natural stone chips, or pigments to simulate granite or other visually consistent surfaces. The size, shape and thickness of these surfaces are determined by the configurations of the molds used. Other equipment used for these applications include automated mixers, vibration units to remove air in the matrix and post heating to accelerate and improve product cure.
